Specialist Recruit International Limited (“Specialist Recruit”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our candidates, clients and website visitors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. We are the data controller for the information described here.
Who we are
Specialist Recruit International Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 04850196. Registered office: 1 Orchard Way, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 8DS. Trading address: Hamilton House, 77–79 Bell Street, Reigate, Surrey, RH2 9RJ. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number Z9303675.
If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact Abbi Lampard, Director, at abbi@specialist-recruit.com or on 01737 307227.
What we collect
Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:
- your name and contact details, such as your email address, phone number and town;
- your CV and the details in it, such as your work history, skills, qualifications and the type of work you are looking for;
- information you give us in conversation, in interviews or in messages, including references;
- for clients, your name, job title, company and details of the roles you are recruiting for;
- technical information when you use our website, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider uses to keep the site secure.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, ethnicity or criminal records) unless it is needed for a specific role and the law allows it, for example a DBS check. When we do, we will explain why.
How we use your information
- to provide our recruitment services, including matching you with suitable permanent and temporary roles and, with your agreement, sending your CV to employers;
- to reply to your enquiries and messages, including forms you send through this website;
- to manage our relationship with clients and candidates, including invoices and payroll for temporary workers;
- to send you job alerts or updates you have asked for (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, for example right-to-work checks and record keeping under the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.
Our legal basis
We use your information because it is necessary to provide the services you have asked for, because we have a legitimate interest in running a recruitment business (for example keeping in touch about suitable roles), to comply with the law, or because you have given your consent (for example to job alerts). Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only where needed:
- with employers, when you have agreed for us to put you forward for a role;
- with referees and checking services, when you have agreed to this;
- with the trusted companies that help us run our business, who may only use it on our instructions: Firefish Software (our recruitment database and job board), Fasthosts (website hosting), Microsoft (email and documents) and our accountant;
- with regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires us to;
- with the new owners and their advisers if our business is ever sold.
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep candidate information for up to three years after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete it sooner, so that we can tell you about suitable roles. We keep information about placements, payments and temporary work for at least six years for legal, tax and regulatory reasons. Website form messages are kept in our email for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred to you or someone else. To make a request, contact abbi@specialist-recruit.com. We will reply within one month. You can also update or remove your details through your account on our job board.
Keeping it safe
We take sensible steps to protect your information, including secure, encrypted systems and limiting access to people who need it. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to keep your information safe.
Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details and to change your choices.
Equal opportunities
We are committed to equal opportunities. We will not discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact Abbi first at abbi@specialist-recruit.com so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
